“The fact that you aren’t where you want to be, should be motivation enough” – Power of Positivity
It’s Sunday night or Monday morning. You’re ending a holiday weekend and heading back to your place of employment. How are you feeling at this moment about your current situation? Are you excited to get back to work? Are you dreading the return to the j-o-b? Are you going to a place where you hope to be long term? There’s a song lyric that asks, “this is your life – are you who you wanna be?” In other words, are you who and where you want to be?
Answering these questions is critical to your overall quality of life and your personal effectiveness. If you do not enjoy what you do or where you do it, then it’s highly likely you are not as productive in it as you should be. How satisfied are you with your life? If you are not satisfied with your life or career, what are you doing to change yourself? What are you waiting for?
If you are waiting for a sign, here it is. Today (right now) is your moment to start making the needed changes in order to get to where you want to go. Life isn’t slowing down and waiting on you, neither is your dream. In fact, each day seems to compound the amount of work, problems and reasons why you stay where you are instead of becoming who you were meant to be. Your dreams move toward you when you move toward them.
What more do you need to pursue your dreams? If you can’t find the courage and fire within you to go after your dreams, then you don’t want to them bad enough. You don’t want to change and grow bad enough. You don’t want what your definition of success is bad enough. What are you waiting for? Who is stopping you from taking one step toward your dream job, career or calling? You are, that’s who.
Maybe you say to yourself that you are stuck. Being stuck means where you are is more comfortable than where you want to be. Stuck is a choice not a destination. Stuck says that your future end state is not as compelling to you as your current state, so there is no need to move toward it. One of my mentors told me, “stuck stinks,” and he was right! Stuck stinks! You can stay where you are and embrace the awful feeling of being stuck or you can make the uncomfortable move out of your stuck zone towards where you want to be and become who you were meant to become.
The choice is up to you. It’s your move.
