Episode 62 - December 9, 2018
“Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall.” - Confucius
News flash! Breaking news! Falling is a normal part of life. Everyone will experience a fall. Some will experience more falls than others, but everyone will experience at least one fall in life. I have experienced more falls than I care to admit, but the reason I am writing this blog is because I got up one more time than I’ve fallen. Falling or failing is not the issue because that’s just going to happen. The issue is whether you get up every time you fall or fail?
I don’t know about you, but every single success guru that I have come across proclaims that if we are NOT failing, then we are not trying, growing or succeeding. Failure or falling is a key ingredient to success. Success does not happen if after falling, we stay down. Getting up after a fall is never easy. Falling tests your character, patience and resilience. Falling bruises your ego, but it can often lead to asking more questions – hopefully, ones that lead to the results you want.
The greatest glory – the greatest moment in our lives… is the moment after failure. Let’s take the boxer in the ring – the who gets knocked to the canvas. No fighter ever expects to get knocked down. However, once knocked down, the fighter has two choices: stay down and take the loss or get up and continue the fight. We have the same choice when we are hit with a setback. We can stay down and count ourselves out or we can get up and continue our fight.
Defeat is a choice.
Staying down is a choice.
Getting up is a choice.
You will fall -that is a fact of life.
Will you stay down or get up?
Your answer is everything.
